About This Project

The city of Heerlen doesn’t want vacancy to be a problem, they want it to contribute to the dynamics, innovation and liveliness of the inner city. How can you deal with vacancy in a city? Can we create a platform functioning as a basis for the realization of other buildings? These were our starting questions. After extensive research we invited an (external) expert – Marcus Westbury – to host several inspiring sessions. These resulted in a blueprint with valuable ideas, which eventually were presented in a plan by several local entrepreneurs and start-ups. Its basic idea was to facilitate with software instead of hardware. Meanwhile, phase one of this plan’s blueprint is being executed.
